February 17, 2005:
In September 2004 Roy Daniel (Spreadborough) found two long lost records made long before THE EMERALDS became a serious recording band!
"One disc was recorded about 1958/1959, 'Country Girl' c/w 'She', both written by Dave Luther & myself. I think the Renegades were on these with me doing vocals.
The other disc was recorded about 1961/1962, 'Forever & Ever I Do' c/w 'I Miss You', again written by Dave & myself but Dave was the main contributor on all four songs. Brian, Richard, Roger (when they were The Emeralds) and Dave played on this with me doing vocals again.
They were all demos and very sparsely produced. They were of an era when lead vocalist plus band were the vogue. It was a couple more years of hard work and not much sleep before 'The Emeralds' developed into a vocal band and then had the name changed to 'Wishful Thinking'."

REUNITED FOR ONE WEEKEND!
Well, the date below was wrong, it was October 5th, but nevertheless it was a marvelous weekend!
Seven former members of WISHFUL THINKING met for the first time since over 25 years at Sylvia McMasters birthday party.
Besides their former manager Bob Potter (today owner of the Lakeside Leisure Complex) there were:
Brian Allen, Roger Charles, Tony Collier, Kevin 'Danny' Finn, John Franklin, Terry New, Roy 'Daniel' Spreadborough and Richard Taylor! They all(!) played live together for the first time in their lives! They performed two songs, Cherry, Cherry and Peggy Sue.
On the following day five of them met in John Franklin's recording studio! Here they listened to some old tapes with unreleased WISHFUL THINKING-tracks from the 60ies and to a new song written and performed by Roger Charles, which he composed 30 years ago but did not finish till now! It is called Speak To Me and sounds like a typical WISHFUL-song! A new hit? ...
Soon there will also be pictures of this historical event on this website!
